7-Eleven Is Going Simpsons

It seems that the 7-Eleven promotion is going very well, and they are planning on expanding it. What is it? It is the conversion of some of their stores to Kwik-E-Marts ala Simpsons show. According to an article in BrandWeek, the conversion of "a number of its stores to the fictional Kwik-E-Marts found in fictional Springfield, USA, … is apparently paying off."

Several fictional items are also being sold at these stores and more stores are on their way, especially in the Northeast region. Apparently, the northeast have more Simpsons fans than any other region in the country, and the interest is very high. They are also using some other guerrilla marketing tactics like signs in the parking lots that say, "5 Minute Parking. Violators Will Be Executed."

What is clever is that they are tying all this to the upcoming movie, the general interest in the Simpsons show, and the obvious connection between the 7-Eleven stores and the fictional Kwik-E-Marts—which was a spoof of 7-Eleven. Talk about life imitating art, imitating life.

On on another note. Did you know that the official birthday of 7-Eleven is July, 11th 1927 (7/11)? But it was named 7-Eleven to reflect the store hours (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.).
