Placeholder Dummy Text and Images for Designers

Creating templates or mockups can get pretty dull. But every now and then, putting in a bit of humor or unexpected twist can bring the process to life. And creative dummy text is one method.

However, I have to say that there are many times it isn't a good idea to plop some beer songs into your designs. Clients will often freak out at the sight of text that has nothing to do with their business. And sometimes it makes you look unprofessional. But on occasion you might have the right client — who gets design — you're working on your own project, or you want some out-of-the-ordinary placeholder text to use temporarily, which makes it a great time to have a little fun.

In the spirit of giving, here are some sites that I find helpful for this:

Dummy Text Generators

Beer Lorum Ipsum Generator

Tuna Ipsum

Hipster Ipsum

TV Theme Generator, one of my favorites

Bacon Ipsum, bacon tastes good on anything

Cupcake Ipsum

Image Placeholder Generators

These are great for quick mockups of emails or webpage designs.

Random Image Generator, this may be one of the best image generators out there

  1. It's awesome people share links that help. Let me recommend one service for creating placeholders: https://pixy.org/placeholder.php
